Au Yeung Wai Lai (Yuen Qiu), owner of a martial arts training school, is reunited with her long lost son Koo Yu Cheung (Kevin Cheng) after years of agonizing separation. Upon his return home, Cheung is shocked to find that his younger brother Koo Yu Tong (Kenneth Ma) has been critically ill and that his father was murdered long ago by Wing Tak (Dominic Lam), the current director of a pharmaceutical company and a bitter old foe of the Koo’s. Cheung has never been into kung-fu but shows only glimpses of his potential when he strikes back at the impudent, arrogant Wing Man Kwan (Jacky Heung), the son of Tak. Pinning all her hopes on Cheung, Lan not only teaches him a special set of kung-fu skills created by the family, but also registers him for the Guangdong Boxing Championship Tournament. Out of the blue, Cheung’s opponent in the final turns out to be Kwan.
The tentative title is Righteous Sea of Heroic Love (巾帼枭雄之義海豪情).
Cast includes Wayne Lai, Sheren Tang, Raymond Wong, Fala Chen, Pierre Ngo, Ngok Wah, Nancy Wu, Kwok Fung, Susan Tse, Kara Hui, Lee Sin Cheung, King Kong, Tai Yiu Ming, Ben Wong, Evergreen Mak, Elena Kong, Lo Chun Shun, Cheung Chung Chi, Helen Ma, Lui Mun Kit, Kelvin Leung, Eileen Yeow, Mandy Lam, Yao Biao, Lee Gong Long, Wendy Hon, Martin Tong, etc.
Producer is Lee Tim Sing and the drama is 25 episodes. This will also be writer Cheung Wah Biu’s last work before leaving TVB.
The setting for the story will be Guangzhou, China during the period when the country was under Japanese rule.
Sheren Tang will portray a triad leader trafficking opium and a person deemed as both "good and evil". She is called Miss Nine (九姑娘) and will be Ngok Wah’s daughter and Susan Tse’s niece.
Wayne Lai will be a likeable police officer. His wife will be Elena Kong and sister will be Fala Chen.
Fala Chen said her role is very similar to her Ah Hing from Moonlight Resonance because her character will have a heart disease here. She will have a romantic plot with her childhood friend played by Raymond Wong.
Ngo Ka Nin will be a righteous man and will have a romatic relationship with Nancy Wu.
Nancy will portray a character name Ma Lai Wah, who is an attention-seeking, ambitious, greedy, boastful songstress. Her mother is an opium addict and Sheren’s savior, so the two of them will live off of Sheren. Later, Nancy will marry Ngok Wah.
Ngok Wah will be an evil opium businessman.
Lee Sin Cheung will be a righteous, patriotic doctor.
There is a rumor that this drama will air in July?!
Annisa might have expected too much after the sales clip. The real thing definitely has a different vibe, for better or worse. The female roles seemingly have more "meat" than the males. That will be interesting to see. But the costumes suck. THE WIG!!!
Jayee finds it interesting that two of Ngok Wah’s "wives" are now his relatives, one a sister and the other a daughter. How strange is that? But looking at it positively, hopefully, less attention on Ngok Wah’s character and more on the ladies and Wayne. Also, pray the July rumor is true.
Issue 663 of TVB Weekly features the main cast of currently airing sitcom O.L. Supreme, including Liza Wang, Denise Ho, Chapman To, Ron Ng, and Koni Lui. I haven’t started the show but according to most of the viewers, O.L. Supreme is enjoyable. Liza takes on a different persona from her super bossy and powerful image in the War of In-Laws duology. Ron is a bus geek, very detached from his previous hot-tempered roles. Koni exerts more feminine charms. Chapman and Denise create hilarious situations. What’s not to see?

In search of the last model for his painting “Nine Pretty Women”, acclaimed scholar Tong Bak Fu (Moses Chan) goes on a trip to Hangzhou with his ardent disciple Wat Kei (Johnson Lee). While there, he meets a pretty young maid from the Wah’s residence, Chau Heung (Myolie Wu). Fu is mesmerized by Heung’s beauty and martial agility, and falls in love with her right away. In order to approach the girl, he disguises as a servant and assumes the pseudonym Wah On, seeking to win her affection with his talent and ingenuity. But contrary to his wishes, Heung is unmoved and even harbours an intense dislike for him after a series of misunderstandings. Master of the family, Wah Hung Shan (Ha Yu) knew from the very beginning that Fu is not a common man. By the time his true identity is revealed, the scholar has already developed a close bond with the entire family, except Heung.
Unbelievable. It took slightly over 6 months for me to recap this very, very, very SHORT travel show. I can’t fathom how some bloggers do this almost every day, writing extremely detailed summaries for dramas over 20, even 30 episodes long. (If you follow Korean dramas, you’ll know exactly which bloggers I’m talking about.) Me? I officially suck at recapping shows episodically. I wish I was *that* dedicated. But nevertheless, I made it and we’re here, at the very last chapter of Sakura Memories. Banzai!!
Have you figured out what "happiness" is? Did Niki Chow manage to show it to you or tell you where it can be found (in Japan)? Are you able to see it, taste it, touch it, feel it … in your own life?
Issue 662 of TVB Weekly is all about the "I love you, you love me" scenario and the "feminine husband, masculine wife" couple from laugh-out-loud romantic comedy My Better Half, starring Maggie Cheung and Michael Miu. (Thoughts on show coming soon!) The cover story talks about their characters Lai Sum and Ching Sum, respectively, as well as what each of them are currently filming. Maggie is working on Women Hurt the Most while Michael is on the set of COPS.
(I’m not sure if there are more pages with Theresa Lee and Michael Tse since our scanner didn’t send me any. I would like to see them featured too! But there is a section devoted to In the Eye of the Beholder and you can find the scans at the Myolie Wu site. I had no idea Wayne Lai is in Beholder. That’s something to look forward to.)
Denise Ho stands tall on the cover of TVBeauty Queen. If you like her, don’t miss her appearance in O.L. Supreme!
The end of episode 5 for My Better Half had this song playing and I completely fell in love with it! It complements the events in that episode tremendously well and made everything feel truly touching and heartbreaking. The lyrics are beautiful and I’m sure many of you who listen to American music (more so than Annisa and me) will recognize this song immediately. I won’t go on about the episode or series since Annisa will kill me if I do, but I will say that Half is very entertaining and deserves a chance. And in the words of our lazy and slow blogger who is writing up her episodics now, "There is more to it than meets the eye!" (Yes, she threatened me to start this drama when I hadn’t planned to! And so, I’m stealing her entrance by making this post, muahahaha!)
I tried looking into the singer of the insert version of this song at the end and had a lot of trouble. The song has been sung by so many singers! I thought the closest voice to the insert version of the episode is Tim McGraw (oops) Ronan Keating, which is the stream below, but after listening for a long time, I don’t think so. The voice sounds softer and much "younger". If you know who the singer is, please let us know. We’d appreciate it lots!
The lyrics are also posted here in case you were searching for them.
The tentative title is literally An Uninvited Date (不速之約), which is actually not the first title. TVB changed to this from A Date with Job (约伯有约) to avoid misleading the audience and relating to the story of Job from the Bible, although the drama will still be loosely based around that.
Cast includes Bobby Au Yeung, Raymond Lam, Tavia Yeung, Gigi Wong, John Chiang, Mandy Wong, Power Chan, Fung So Boh, Bak Biu, Leanne Li, Natalie Wong, Catherine Chow, Ching Ho Wai, Felix Lok, So Yan Chi, Deno Cheung, Russell Cheung, Lam Yuen Ying, Quinn Ho, Poon Fong Fong, Luvin Ho, etc.
Producer is Poon Ka Tak and the drama is 20 episodes.
Bobby said that although he can’t reveal too much of the plot, the series has a Western feel.
Bobby and Tavia will be acting as husband and wife.
Due to his doctoral code of ethics, Bobby will wait for 3 years before courting Tavia, who was one of his patients. When he meets her again 3 years later, he wanted to chase after her, but she dies from a car accident. However, she later comes back to life.
Raymond will be a "devil" who tries to take Bobby’s life. However, Raymond said that his character is reasonable and because Bobby has many regrets and things left undone, Raymond will bring Bobby back to life.
Raymond also said that he will have some kind of relationship with Tavia. (Whether it is a romantic one is for us to wait and find out!)
Because Raymond has two movies on hand, he will start filming on March 3rd, while the cast starts tomorrow, February 25th.
Annisa is TOTALLY EXCITED for this!! I’m like in ULTRA HAPPY mode right now! Really, really happy to see Bobby in TVB news again. From what the main leads have said, I’m going to take a stab at the chronology of the script’s outline. Bobby meets Tavia and falls in love with her, but she dies 3 years later in a car accident that he either witnesses or gets shocked at seeing her at the emergency room. At that point, he will probably meet Raymond and asks Raymond, the almighty "devil" or Satan or Grim Reaper (whoever–some guy with red eyes and a vampiric/powerful aura (LOL!)) to revive Tavia. They make a deal and Bobby will exchange something "important" to him, most likely his own life. However, Bobby doesn’t want to die yet and Raymond chases after him to seal the contract. Through their many obstacles, the understanding between Bobby and Raymond grows deeper and they develop a strong bond. These feelings make Raymond more "human" and prevent him from killing Bobby. Raymond allows Bobby to live for an extra amount of time or revive him but alas, after X years, Bobby dies and meets Raymond again in Hell. Okay, that was a load of my fantasical trash but I think that’s the gist of it. I also think the apple, although it can represent many things, will be the forbidden fruit of Raymond’s actions–breaking the circle of life in a way.
Jayee … Annisa said it all, what can I say? Agrees wholeheartedly and would like to point out that Leanna Li’s dress is the same as Theresa Lee’s from My Better Half.
